Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE)

(TRE®) for Beginners

What is TRE® ?

TRE  or Tension, Stress and Trauma Release Exercises,  illicit a powerful innate mechanism of gentle shaking (neurogenic tremors)  that helps people rebound from physical and psychological stress, tension and trauma.  TRE resets the nervous system after experiencing stressful events, assisting recovery and increasing resilience.

Regardless of whether stress or trauma is physical, emotional or psychological in origin, ultimately it is the body which responds by contracting and bracing.  Unresolved fight, flight and freeze patterns need to be discharged from the body in order to return to a calm, relaxed state of homeostasis. Unlike other methods of stress reduction TRE does not just offer temporary relief, it offers permanent release.

TRE uses a series of simple exercises to invoke gentle therapeutic tremors that are then able to be self regulated.

For deepest benefits, it is recommended to learn TRE from a Certified Provider and develop a regular independent practice.

TRE does not require talking about or recalling past events and does not require the ongoing assistance of a therapist for the vast majority of people, meaning that, once learned properly, the process can be used on your own on an ongoing, on-demand basis to support and enhance other approaches.

Adaptable for all body types, fitness levels, and mobility challenges, TRE® is designed to be taught professionally and then used independently by individuals and groups.

TRE® Tension, Stress and Trauma Releasing Exercises

TRE® was developed by Dr. David Berceli.  It is practiced in 45 countries around the world and his books have been translated into 33 languages.
